Gather your friends for the next football game or holiday party and take quick notes afterwards. Notes? Why? Well, taking notes of what's served, and the attendees can make a particular gathering become a "tradition" that everybody would like to be involved in. When friends get together, and they contribute with a dish, it diminishes the burden on the person in charge of hosting the party. If a dish was a success, you would like to have that again. Notes will allow participants to bring his or her famous dish if it was a success. Notes will also help you remember to add an extra table (if one was needed) or to move your beverage station to a more convenient place.
2 cans of pork and beans
2 cans large butter beans
1 can small lima beans
1 can kidney beans
¾ cup vinegar
2 tablespoons dry mustard
1 cup ketchup
4 onions, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
21/2 cups brown sugar
1 lb. bacon
Directions:
Drain and rinse with water (to get rid of the excess sodium) butter beans, lima beans and kidney beans. Combine pork and beans with onions and set aside. Cut bacon into small pieces and fry. Drain ½ of the grease and add the brown sugar, catsup, vinegar, salt and mustard. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add beans and gently stir until well mixed. Pour into a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
